Joze Marcelino

Joze Marcelino
Born in Angola and living in Portugal since a teenager, Joze Marcelino, a university teacher with a Ph.D. in Biotechnology is also an accomplished songwriter. At the age of 10, he started studying music and played clarinet in the school band in Luanda and taught himself to play the guitar. In Portugal, he studied piano and singing at the regional conservatory of Ponta Delgada and jazz with British jazz guitarist Curly Ormerod. As a university student, he played with a band of colleagues at the famous academic festival "Queima das Fitas" at the Rivoli Theatre. He has appeared on stage in Canada, Portugal and at the TEDxLancasterU in UK. In 2015 he was nominated the "singer-songwriter of the month” by the California based site Studio Pros. He is a supporter of the orphanage "Pequena Semente" (Little Seed) which helps children in need in Angola. Joze Marcelino is focused on writing meaningful songs and has released 3 albums and several EPs. As a hobby he enjoys landscape photography of the beautiful views of the Atlántida islands (Azores) where he lives with his wife Karyne, a Bahá'í pioneer from Canada, As a member of the Bahá'í community, he founded and directs the Bahá’i choir ‘Brisas da Alvorada’.
