Nasim Maani

Nasim Maani
Nasim is a self-taught singer-songwriter, her work a celebration of the soul in folk, jazz & world styles. Her greatest inspiration are the Writings of the Baha'i Faith, different spiritual poets and the plight and longing of the human heart.

Her last album "The Longing" (2011) was recorded and produced in Austria in collaboration with jazz musician and producer Daniel Rubin. She is currently busy creating and recording new music in her new home in China.

Music allows her to share from the heart and connect to others on a very deep level: "My greatest joy in life is to be able to connect heart to heart…" She has given intimate house concerts and musical firesides all over the world.

As a professionally trained architect and designer(Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Auckland, New Zealand (1996), as well as studies at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria and the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Arizona) she also strives to show the beauty and power of spirituality in her design work. She has designed and built private residences, interiors, offices, stores, furniture, as well as jewelry.

Nasim is also an experienced yoga instructor (RYI E-200, RYI 500) of over 10 years, having studied in the US with Maria Kalima Mendola, Amy Weintraub, Sarah Powers, Ana Forrest, Shiva Ray, Mukunda Stiles and Arun Devi. Nasim is also a devoted yoga therapist with Integrative Yoga Therapy (Joseph & Lillian LePage), where different healing modalities are used to empower the individual to find healing within themselves. She loves to help you to explore the connection between mind, body, breath and spirit. She is trained in Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, as well as the practice and teaching of Yoga Nidra. Her group and private classes use Pranayama, Mudra, Asana and Meditation to help you strengthen and stretch your body, to relax body and mind and find a connection to your spirit. Nasim also teaches seasonally according to the the teachings of Ayurveda.

Nasim is hoping to combine the healing benefits of yoga and meditation with music as she begins a new journey in a new culture.

After 20 years of residence in the US, Nasim (who was born in Iran and raised in Austria and New Zealand) and her Iranian-American husband and kids have recently moved to Beijing, China. They are excited to lean a new culture and adapt to new ways of relating heart to heart.
