Taraz NosratTaraz is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University, where he studied biomedical engineering. Although recently accepted to medical school, his first passion was always music. During the year off between undergrad and medical school - The Divine Spark was birthed and developed. Boom~ first person transition. As I write this and swivel on my rotating chair in my room, I can count 9 different instruments around me. I didn’t learn them all overnight - after 5 years of piano lessons, I picked up the viola in middle school, eventually making 1st chair region orchestra. Shortly after, I was drawn to the guitar (first electric-metal shredding ala Metallica and System of a Down), then into ethereal rock like Coldplay and Muse. My music taste then drew me to both folk and world sounds, and I set on a quest with my Spanish-made classical guitar to fuse together elements of my influences. I have been writing and recording music for the past 6 years, but never has it been so focused as on The Divine Spark. Each song has been written, transformed, and re-recorded multiple times. These orchestrated songs and melodies are like moving soundscapes in my mind and I attempted to map them into musical form. The title of the album comes from the amazing muse or inspiration that an artist taps into when they create music. I felt like these songs wrote themselves, but that I had to map and plan them out. Through this album, I feel like I was able to capture the essence of my backgrounds (traditional Persian music, woodsy folk tunes, native american flute music, positive energy reggae, classical orchestra, etc…) and fuse them in a cohesive way. I hope that audiences enjoy and are able to feel the spirit of my devotion through these songs. Thank you for reading, and I hope that these tunes can be heard all over the world.
