Rebecca Johnston-GarvinI began piano at age 4. Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin were all good friends. In the 4th grade, I began to study the violin. I changed to the viola when the middle school needed a violist. I could get out of my school and go play with the big kids. In high school, I had a crush on a trombonist and wanted to learn french horn so I could play in concert band. My mom asked me to stop because the dog wouldn't stop barking and was scared stiff of the reflection of herself in the bell of the horn. I did attempt the clarinet, oboe and flute however, I just didn't have the lung power for the wind instruments. At 19, I found my beloved Baha'i Faith. I married and left for Temuco, Chile as a pioneer. I played in the local orchestra and began to compose for the children's classes. Children learn to memorize more easily by singing. I had the orchestra at my disposal so I began to compose more in depth. With the inspiration of the holy writings, my wealth of lyrics was infinite. I now have 4 musical CDs. I've branched out to audiobooks and am beginning to write children's stories. Rebecca Johnston-Garvin's Websites: rjgarvin.com Albums by Rebecca Johnston-Garvin |
