Genevieve Labbe

Born in Quebec, Canada, singer song-writer Geneviève Labbé's music appeals to young and older audiences alike.

Raised in a musical family, at age sixteen Genevieve journeyed to Senegal as a youth volunteer for humaniarian projects. Her experiences there led to an appreciation of the role of music in promoting human rights and peace. Returning to Canada she involved herself in diverse musical projects including a classical choir and a reggae band in which she performed at the Quebec Summer Festival. Genevieve also lived in Vietnam and India and life then brought her to Australia where she composed and sang for the Musical stage production The Seven Valleys as well as being a lead soprano for the New Era Singers for six years.

After having returned to Canada with her young family, Geneviève produced in 2008 her first album of songs in French entitled Sous un même soleil (Under the same sun). This collection of original songs, inspired by and reflecting diverse musical influences from around the world, was developed to assist in the spiritual and moral education of children. In collaboration with five other musicians and a supporting chorus of children, Geneviève has presented the joyful and colorful live stage show to enthusiastic audiences more than fifty times between 2009 et 2012. Geneviève developed other live shows for the general public including; Vox Planète (musical reflections on the environment) and Rêves d'été (original jazz-blues compositions). These shows have been presented in a thirty towns and cities throughout Quebec, Ontario and Australia.

She then collaborated with the Filipino performing artist Ianne Neome Sanico to develop her first English language production, A wonderful journey. The two artistes have combined their musical and acting talents to take young audiences on an unforgettable musical magic carpet ride around the world. The concert was performed in New Delhi, India, in 2011. The album Sunshine in You, was released in 2013 and rapidly gained popularity in the USA, Canada and Australia, particularly in Primary schools.

Genevieve's artistic projects have attracted grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canadian Arts Council. The artist released her new album DUNES in 2015, with new compositions for the adult audience.
