Felipe DuhartFelipe Duhart is a Chilean guitarist and composer who belongs to the new generation of musicians creating a space for South American jazz. His music fuses elements of contemporary jazz and the rhythms of South America, creating a sound that is fresh, original and captivating. His new album Huerquehue, which means "the place of messengers" in Mapudungun, was inspired by the deep energy of the native forests of Chile, and the dynamism of the city. The sounds of the electric guitar, tenor saxophone, piano, double bass and drums mingle with rhythms of tonada, funk, festejo, and bop, among other styles, creating a vibrant spectacle bursting with improvisation in the universal language of jazz. Felipe has shared the stage with many of the celebrated figures of Chilean jazz, and has recorded as a guitarist on 9 albums and 2 live DVDs. He has performed all over Chile as well as in Colombia, Argentina and Ecuador. He has played in the Lebu International Jazz Festival, Thelonious International Jazz Festival, Puerto Montt International Jazz Festival, Django Chile International Jazz Festival, Django Colombia International Jazz Festival, Patagonia International Jazz Festival, among others, receiving an enthusiastic response from both the public and local media.
