Jamie Findlay

Jamie Findlay
Originally from Seattle Washington, Jamie is one of the masters of contemporary acoustic and jazz guitar. With two CD's under his own name, "Wings of Light" and "Amigos del Corazón." Jamie is also a very busy performer and composer, both in the States and abroad. His music is flavored by many styles from jazz and blues to pop and funk. In the late '90′s, Jamie helped found the Acoustic Jazz Quartet, an L.A. based jazz band that features Jamie's compositions, with a their first Naxos Jazz release distributed worldwide in April, '99, and a second Acoustic Jazz Quartet "Organic" released on the Origin Label in 2001. In 2002 Jamie formed a guitar duo with Duck Baker, and the pair recorded an adventurous and critically acclaimed record of jazz guitar duos titled "Out of the Past". Jamie has published 8 books and has recorded 2 instructional DVD's.

Jamie contributes to several guitar magazines in the US, has taught Jazz Guitar at the University of Southern California and now teaches at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. More recently, an impressive personal career has been developed, with travel and performance throughout almost all parts of the United States, as well as to China, Asia, Central America, Brazil, and eight tours of Europe, performing and giving clinics. He has numerous recording credits to his name, and continues to play solo, as well as contributing to other musical situations from accompanying various singers to performing with the Steve Huffsteter Big Band.

With the release of "Reflections" Jamie is, at long last, making his first solo venture into the world of "Bahá'í-inspired music." After having been, for so many years, so greatly inspired by Seals and Crofts, Dizzy Gillespie, Red Grammer, K.C. Porter, Dan Seals, Tierney Sutton, as well as many others, Jamie is proud to throw his lot in with the rest, and arise to help others find the "ladder by which souls may ascend to the realm on high."

Jamie on his album "Reflections"

"Since I first became a Bahá'í in the early 1980′s I was very much impressed by the expression of music in the Bahá'í Faith, and was always quite interested in offering my music as a form of service. Bahá'u'lláh tells us that work offered in service is accepted as worship to God, so it's easy to understand why I feel like I have the greatest job in the world. I was also always interested in adapting that music, whether it was a choir piece, or an orchestra piece, or Persian, or whatever, onto the solo guitar, and the Bahá'í community has always been very supportive by asking me to perform at various Bahá'í events, for which I'm quite grateful. The pieces included in this collection are from various sources; many from the Bahá'í World Congress in New York, in 1992, some well loved children's songs, a song from Iran, from Hawaii, from Swaziland…

"I offer this music in the spirit of sacrifice for our beloved Bahá'í brethren in the Cradle of the Faith, Iran, who for the past 160 years or more have been such stalwart examples and have demonstrated to all the world what it means to be Bahá'í, no matter what the consequence.

"And be thou so steadfast in My love that thy heart shall not waver, even if the swords of the enemies rain blows upon thee and all the heavens and the earth arise against thee." - Bahá'u'lláh

"I hope you'll enjoy this offering, and use it in your devotional gatherings, in your meditations, your Holy Day observances, and just in your own moments of reflection." - Jamie.
